Dry Process Cement Manufacture
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-008670
Raw materials are limestone, shells, and chalk or marl with shale, clay, slate, blast furnace slag, silica sand, and iron ore. These ingredients are heated at high temperatures in a kiln and form a rock-like substance that is ground into the fine powder known as cement. The wet process is like the dry process except that raw materials are ground with water before being heated in the kiln.
