Feral Animal

1. Escaped from domestication (Long 1981:7). Feral individuals may be descendants of the original escapees.

2. Existing in a wild or untamed state.The term is often used to describe an animal which has reverted to such a state from domestication. An example of the latter is a once farmed fish, or the progeny of a farmed fish, which is living (but not necessarily breeding) in a wild state.
