1. The reliable access to sufficient affordable, nutritious food. Climate issues can include changes to food systems, such as impacts to agricultural systems and transportation.

2. Freedom from hunger. The capability to produce an adequate amount of food for all consumers at affordable prices.

3. Access by all people, at all times to sufficient food for an active and healthy life. Food security includes at a minimum: the ready availability of nutritionally adequate and safe foods, and an assured ability to acquire acceptable foods in socially acceptable ways.
