Impurity
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-013943
1. Any chemical element present in an additive that is not included in the chemical formula or identified in the breakdown by element in the chemical composition of such additive.
2. Any substance (or group of structurally similar substances if specified by the Agency), in a pesticide product other than an active ingredient or an inert ingredient, including unreacted starting materials, side reaction products, contaminants, and degradation products.
3. Individual chemical compound present in a raw material which is incorporated in the final aerosol coatings formulation, if the compound is present in amounts below the following in the raw material:(1) For individual compounds that are carcinogens each compound must be present in an amount less than 0.1 percent by weight;(2) For all other compounds present in a raw material, a compound must be present in an amount less than 1 percent by weight.
4. Substance that is produced coincidentally with the primary product, or is present in a raw material. An impurity does not serve a useful purpose in the production or use of the primary product and is not isolated. [40 CFR 63.1082 (CFR 2013)][40 CFR 63.1101 (CFR 2013)]
5. Substance that is produced coincidentally with the product(s), or is present in a raw material. An impurity does not serve a useful purpose in the production or use of the product(s) and is not isolated.
6. Chemical substance which is unintentionally present with another chemical substance. [40 CFR 704.3 (CFR 2013)]
7. Chemical substance unintentionally present with another chemical substance or mixture. [40 CFR 712.3 (CFR 2013)] [40 CFR 720.3 (CFR 2013)] [40 CFR 791.3 (CFR 2013)]
8. Same meaning as in § 710.3 of this chapter.
9. A coincindentally manufactured EPCRA Section 313 chemical that remains in the product that is distributed in commerce.
