1. Not capable of sustaining life. Often refers to dirt or soil.
2. Material such as sand, salt, iron, calcium salts and other mineral materials. Inorganic substances are of mineral origin, whereas organic substances are usually of animal or plant origin.
3. Not referring to or derived from living organisms.
4. In chemistry, any compound not containing carbon (with a few exceptions).
