Interconnection standards--net metering

Net metering provisions can be considered a subset of interconnection standards for small-scale projects. When distributed generation (DG) output exceeds the site's electrical needs, the utility might pay the customer for excess power supplied to the grid or have the net surplus carry over to the next months' bill.
