Matrix-Based Fertilizer

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-016694

Fertilizers formulated to reduce nitrate, ammonium, and total phosphorus leaching through binding of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P), and in some cases via mixtures with aluminum sulfate, iron sulfate, starch, chitosan, or lignin. When N and P are released, the chemicals containing these nutrients in the MBF temporarily bind N and P to an aluminum sulfate or iron sulfate starch- chitosan- lignin matrix.
