Model uncertainty
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-017641
1. Uncertainty regarding gaps in scientific theory required to make predictions on the basis of causal inferences.
2. Uncertainty due to necessary simplification of real-world processes, misspecification of the model structure, model misuse, or use of inappropriate surrogate variables or inputs.
3. Uncertainty due to necessary simplification of real-world processes, misspecification of the model structure, model misuse, or use of inappropriate surrogate variables or inputs. [EPA 2004]
4. Bias or imprecision associated with compromises made or lack of adequate knowledge in specifying the structure and calibration (parameter estimation) of a model. [FAO/WHO 2003b]
