Uncertainty Analysis
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-028998
1. Investigates the effects of lack of knowledge or potential errors on the model (e.g., the "uncertainty" associated with parameter values) and when conducted in combination with sensitivity analysis (see definition) allows a model user to be more informed about the confidence that can be placed in model results.
2. A detailed examination of the systematic and random errors of a measurement or estimate (in this case a risk or hazard estimate); an analytical process to provide information regarding the uncertainty.
3. A detailed examination of the systematic and random errors of a measurement or estimate (in this case a risk or hazard estimate); an analytical process to provide information regarding the uncertainty. [EPA 2004]
4. A method used to estimate the uncertainty associated with model inputs, assumptions, and structure/form. [CAC 1999]
5. A detailed examination of the systematic and random errors of a measurement or estimate; an analytical process to provide information regarding the uncertainty. [RAIS 2004, SRA 2004]
6. Used to estimate the uncertainty associated with model inputs, assumptions, and structure/form and the process of interpreting the influence of uncertainty on the results of a risk assessment. [USDA/FSIS/2012-001; EPA/100/J12/001]
7. This is used to estimate the uncertainty associated with model inputs, assumptions, and structure/form and the process of interpreting the influence of uncertainty on the results of a risk assessment.
