Natural resource

  1. 1. Anything obtained from the physical environment to meet human needs.

    2. Land, fish, wildlife, biota, air, water, ground water, drinking water supplies, and other such resources belonging to, managed by, held in trust by, appertaining to, or otherwise controlled by the United States (including the resources of the exclusive economic zone defined by the Magnuson Fishery Conservation and Management Act of 1976), any state or local government, any foreign government, any Indian tribe, or, if such resources are subject to a trust restriction on alienation, any member of an Indian tribe.

  2. 1. Natural Resources includes all activities involved in conservation planning, land management, and national park/monument tourism that affect the nation's natural and recreational resources, both private and federal. Note: Energy-related natural resources are covered in the Energy Management line of business.

    2. All the parts of the Earth that are not human-made and which people use, like fish, trees, minerals, lakes, or rivers.

    3. Land, fish, wildlife, biota, air, water, groundwater, drinking water supplies, and other such resources (including the resources of the exclusive economic zone) belonging to, managed by, held in trust by, appertaining to, or otherwise controlled by, the United States, any state or local government or Indian tribe, or any foreign government.

    4. Includes groundwater, surface water and forests but does not include the financial consequences of losing a particular natural resource.
