Natural Thermal Stratification
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-018309
1. Naturally-occurring division of a waterbody into horizontal layers of differing densities as a result of variations in temperature at different depths.
2. Naturally occurring and/or existing division of a waterbody into horizontal layers of differing densities as a result of variations in temperature at different depths.
3. Division of warmer, lighter fresh water over a layer of saltier and denser water in the Bay. Stratification of the two layers varies within any season depending on rainfall.
