Organic compound
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-019777
1. Molecule that contains atoms of the element carbon, usually combined with itself and with atoms of one or more other element such as hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus, chlorine, or fluorine. See inorganic compound.
2. As used in the definitions of intermediate and PAI, any compound that contains both carbon and hydrogen with or without other elements.
3. Animal or plant-produced substances containing mainly carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen.
1. Chemical compounds that contain carbon, an element usually associated with life processes.
2. Chemicals that contain carbon. Volatile organic compounds vaporize at room temperature and pressure. They are found in many indoor sources, including many common household products and building materials.
