  "definition": "1. A mechanical device set immediately above the injection zone that seals the outside of the tubing to the inside of the long string casing. A packer may be a simple mechanically set rubber device or a complex concentric seal assembly.\n\n2. An inflatable gland, or balloon, used to create a temporary seal in a borehole, probe hole, well, or drive casing. It is made of rubber or non-reactive materials.\n\n3. A packer is a device that is placed inside the casing string and holds the base of the tubing through which the fluid is injected in place. The space between the tubing and the casing string is called the annulus and it is filled with fluid, most commonly water mixed with a corrosion-inhibitor.\n\n4. Device lowered into a well to produce a fluid-tight seal.",
