1. As used in the ESRP, a set of driving conditions that will cause ecological and potentially human well-being change. Driving conditions can include the continuation of existing trends (a "business-as-usual" baseline scenario), extrinsic changes (e.g., a change in the rate of population growth, a change in the rate of sea level rise) or the introduction of hypothetical policies.
