Semi-volatiles
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-025200
Semi-volatiles are chemicals which have a tendency to volatilize or vaporize or evaporate at temperatures higher than volatiles. Examples of semi-volatiles are hexachlorobenzene, nitrobenzene and toxaphene. EPA method #625 is used to analyze for semi-volatiles. See Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations (40 CFR) Section 136, Appendix A http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_04/40cfr136_04.html for more details. (Technically semi-volatile compounds have a Henry's Law constant, H', greater than 0.01.)
