1. A protocol specification for exchanging structured information in the implementation of Web services.
2. SOAP is a protocol specification for exchanging structured information for the implementation of web services on a computer network. It allows machines to interoperate in a loosely coupled manner using simple standard messages over the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP or others) and uses Extensible Markup Language (XML) as the mechanisms for information exchange.
