Site Characterization and Analysis Penetrometer System

Also referred to as "SCAPS," it is an in situ sensor that uses laser-induced fluorescence to determine the relative amounts of polyaromatic hydrocarbons in the subsurface. The sensor is mounted in the cone of CPT equipment. Developed by the U.S. military.
