Skewness

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-025709

The measure of asymmetry of a distribution. Coefficients of skewness are zero for symmetric distributions (e.g., normal), positive for right-skewed distributions (e.g., lognormal), and negative for left-skewed distributions (e.g., specific forms of beta) . Referred to as the third central moment of a distribution.
