Submerged Aquatic Vegetation

1. Aquatic vegetation, such as sea grasses, that cannot withstand excessive drying and therefore live with their leaves at or below the water surface. SAVs provide an important habitat for young fish and other aquatic organisms.
2. The technical term for underwater grasses that grow underwater. SAV can improve water quality and provide food and habitat to fish, shellfish and waterfowl.
