Yard Trimmings

1. Refers to grass, leaves, tree branches and brush, and tree stumps from residential, institutional, and commercial sources. Examples of recycling include processing yard trimmings into compost, mulch, or other similar uses, and landspreading leaves (when the depth of the application allows for degradation of the organic plant material). (U.S. EPA, 1996b)

2. The component of solid waste composed of grass clippings, leaves, twigs, branches, and garden refuse.
