Barnacle

A marine crustacean that attaches itself to submerged surfaces, such as ship hulls, pilings, and offshore structures. These organisms secrete a strong adhesive that allows them to remain fixed, even in turbulent water. Their presence can increase drag on vessels, leading to higher fuel consumption and reduced speed.
