Circumferentor

A historical surveying instrument used to measure horizontal angles and bearings, primarily for land surveying and mapping. It consists of a magnetic compass mounted on a staff or tripod, with sighting vanes to align with distant objects. This instrument was widely used before the development of more precise instruments like the theodolite.
