Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005597
A method of indirectly measuring distances and elevations using a telescopic instrument equipped with two horizontal crosshairs, called stadia hairs. The interval between these hairs, observed on a graduated rod, is proportional to the distance from the instrument to the rod. This technique provides a rapid means of surveying for topographic mapping and preliminary surveys.
