Stadia hair

One of two short, parallel, horizontal lines etched on the reticle of a surveying telescope, positioned above and below the main horizontal crosshair. These hairs are used in conjunction with a stadia rod to determine distances by observing the interval intercepted on the rod. The spacing of these hairs is precisely calibrated for distance calculations.
