Clearcutter

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001150

A person or machine engaged in the harvesting method of clearcutting, where most or all trees in a designated area are felled at the same time. This practice is used to create an even-aged stand of trees for regeneration, often with species that require full sunlight to grow. The size and shape of clearcuts are regulated by regional forest management acts, which specify limits to protect soil, water quality, and wildlife habitat corridors.
