Second-growth forest

A forest stand that has regrown after a major disturbance, such as logging, fire, or disease, which removed the original old-growth timber. These forests are characterized by younger trees and a different species composition compared to primary forests. The age of trees in a second-growth forest can range from decades to centuries.
