Doghair

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006932

A dense stand of small-diameter trees, often of a single species, that are growing very close together. This condition results in intense competition for light, water, and nutrients, leading to slow growth and poor stem form for individual trees. Doghair stands are common in areas that have regenerated naturally after a disturbance, such as a wildfire or clearcut.
