Drunken trees

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006941

Trees that are leaning at odd angles, often in different directions, rather than growing straight upright. This phenomenon occurs when the ground supporting the trees becomes unstable, such as in areas of permafrost thaw, landslides, or soil creep. The tilting is a visual indicator of ground instability, particularly in boreal forests where permafrost is prevalent.
