Stocking

A measure of the number of trees or the amount of timber volume on a given area of forest land, relative to a desired or optimum level. It indicates how fully the site's productive capacity is being used by trees. Stocking levels are often expressed as basal area per acre or as a percentage of full stocking for a particular forest type.
