Compass plane
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001270
A hand plane with a flexible steel sole that can be adjusted to be either convex or concave, allowing it to smooth curved surfaces. By turning a screw mechanism, the user can bend the sole to match the radius of the workpiece, such as an arch, a curved table apron, or a barrel stave. The tool functions like a standard bench plane but is specialized for shaping and finishing non-flat wooden components.
