A constant velocity joint, a mechanical coupling that transmits power at a constant rotational speed regardless of the angle between the input and output shafts. This allows for smooth power delivery to the wheels, especially in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles where the wheels steer and move vertically. CV joints are protected by a flexible rubber boot filled with grease.
