Dead door

A panel or sealed opening in a piece of industrial equipment, such as a furnace or oven, that resembles a door but is not intended for regular operation. It is fixed in place, providing a permanent seal where an opening once was or might be needed for infrequent, major maintenance. This contrasts with an access door, which is designed for routine inspection and service.
