Delta
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001637
The central angle of a circular curve, measured between the initial and final tangent lines at their point of intersection. This angle, denoted by the Greek letter delta (Δ), dictates the total change in direction of an alignment as it traverses the curve. The value of delta is equal to the deflection angle between the back tangent and the forward tangent, and it is a primary parameter for calculating other curve elements like arc length and chord length.
