Dial-around
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001690
A method for bypassing a telephone subscriber's preselected long-distance carrier to use an alternative service for a specific call. The user dials a carrier access code before the destination phone number, routing the call through the chosen alternative provider's network. This practice became prevalent with landline services following telecommunications deregulation, using access codes like the 10-10-XXX format to offer competitive per-call rates.
