Ghost call

A telephone call that, when answered, presents only silence or line noise with no one on the other end. These calls originate from misconfigured telecommunications equipment, automated dialing systems that fail to connect to a live agent, or network glitches. In Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems, they may result from security scanning attempts where automated tools probe for active extensions or vulnerabilities.
