Disk drive

A data storage device that reads and writes information to a rotating disk or platter. It can be either a hard disk drive (HDD) which uses magnetic platters, or an optical disk drive (ODD) for CDs, DVDs, or Blu-ray discs. Disk drives provide non-volatile storage for operating systems, applications, and user data.
