The process of drawing water from a static source, such as a pond, river, or portable tank, into a fire pump using atmospheric pressure. This technique involves creating a partial vacuum in the pump and suction hose, allowing external atmospheric pressure to push water into the pump. A strainer is typically used to prevent debris from entering the pump.
