The additional dimension included in a garment's pattern beyond the wearer's exact body measurements to allow for movement and comfort. Wearing ease is the minimum amount needed for breathing and basic motion, while design ease is extra fullness added to create a specific silhouette or style. A close-fitting garment may have as little as 2 inches of ease at the chest.
