Engaged tone

An audible signal heard by a caller indicating that the dialed telephone line is currently in use or unavailable. This tone, also known as a busy signal, informs the caller that the connection cannot be completed at that moment. The specific frequency and cadence of an engaged tone are standardized within different telecommunication systems.
