Tone dialing

A method of signaling in telephony where each digit is represented by a unique combination of two distinct audio frequencies, known as Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF). This allows for faster and more reliable dialing compared to pulse dialing. It is the standard method for inputting numbers and commands into modern telephone systems and interactive voice response (IVR) systems.
