Pulse dialing

A method of signaling in telecommunications where a telephone number is transmitted by a series of electrical pulses, corresponding to the digits of the number. Each digit is represented by a specific number of pulses, with pauses between digits. This system was prevalent in older rotary dial telephones and is largely superseded by tone dialing (DTMF).
