Fire damper

A device installed in a mine ventilation system designed to automatically close in the event of a fire. Its purpose is to prevent the spread of smoke and flames through airways, thereby containing the fire and protecting escape routes. Fire dampers are typically constructed from non-combustible materials and are activated by heat or smoke detectors.
