Guard

A member of the train crew responsible for the safe and punctual operation of a passenger or freight train. Duties include operating doors, observing the platform during departure, and managing emergency situations. In the United Kingdom, the guard is the person in charge of the train, a role distinct from the driver who controls its movement.
