Guard band
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002685
A narrow, unused strip of frequency spectrum located between two adjacent communication channels. This buffer zone is intentionally left vacant to prevent interference, such as crosstalk, from one channel spilling over and disrupting the signal in the neighboring channel. The width of the guard band is a design parameter that balances spectral efficiency against the need for signal isolation, and it is specified in standards like those for LTE or Wi-Fi.
