OFDM
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003972
A digital modulation method that encodes data on multiple orthogonal carrier frequencies, known as subcarriers. Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) splits a high-rate data stream into many lower-rate streams transmitted simultaneously, improving spectral efficiency and resilience to interference. It is a key technology in modern communication standards used for smart grid applications, such as power-line communication (PLC) and wireless networks like LTE and Wi-Fi.
