Subcarrier

A secondary carrier wave modulated onto a main carrier wave to transmit additional information without interfering with the primary signal. This technique allows for the multiplexing of multiple data streams over a single communication channel. In FM stereo broadcasting, a 38 kHz subcarrier is used to carry the difference signal between the left and right audio channels.
