Odontograph
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003971
An instrument or drafting template used to draw approximate profiles for gear teeth, typically using circular arcs instead of a true involute curve. This method simplifies the complex geometry of gear teeth, allowing for easier manual layout. Different odontograph systems, such as the Grant or Willis methods, provide specific construction rules for locating the centers of the arcs used for the tooth face and flank.
