Gear train
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002545
A mechanical system consisting of two or more gears meshed together to transmit power and motion, often to change speed, torque, or direction of rotation. The ratio of the number of teeth on the driven gear to the number of teeth on the driving gear determines the speed reduction or increase. Gear trains are fundamental components in transmissions, clocks, and many other machines.
