Reduction drive
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004738
A mechanical system that decreases the rotational speed of an output shaft relative to its input shaft, while simultaneously increasing torque. This is achieved through a series of gears with different numbers of teeth. Reduction drives are used in applications where a high torque at a lower speed is required, such as in winches or industrial mixers.
