Preselector

A mechanism that allows for the selection of a future gear ratio in a transmission while the current gear is still engaged. This system prepares the next gear for engagement, reducing the time required for a gear change once the clutch is disengaged. Preselectors are commonly found in certain types of manual transmissions and automatic transmissions, such as those in heavy vehicles or older sports cars.
